The fish processing industry has experienced dramatic increases in efficiency and profitability through automation. In the last 20 years, efforts have focused on the automation of the pre-processing, primary and secondary processing. Going forward there are significant opportunities in advanced software to further optimize production. Valka recently completed a feasibility study which was the first step towards a new application aiming to improve the overall value chain, from the catch to the sales of processed fish. The software will apply optimization and artificial intelligence to help users control and monitor production based on market and catch or harvest information with the aim of generating the highest value possible.
